We started Zero Waste Simplified because going plastic-free shouldn't feel like a homework assignment.
The plastic-free corner of the internet used to be exhausting. Brand pages full of stock photos, vague ingredient lists, and long essays about why a kraft mailer is virtuous. We wanted something simpler. A clean shelf of real products that work, sourced from small-batch US makers, and shipped in nothing but paper.
Every product on this site has been used in real households before it earns a listing. We don't take pay-to-play deals from brands. We don't stock anything wrapped in plastic. And we don't claim eco bona fides we can't back up. If a product works, it stays. If it doesn't, we drop it.
We aren't going to solve the plastic problem one bar of soap at a time. But we can make the switch easy enough that real households actually stick with it. That's the whole point.

Nothing we sell is tested on animals. Leaping Bunny and certified vegan options are called out so you can shop by conscience, not guesswork.
How we got here
2019
Zero Waste Simplified begins
Founded as a Shopify side project selling three bar soaps and a bamboo toothbrush from a kitchen in the Midwest.
2021
First 1,000 orders shipped plastic-free
Switched every mailer, fill, and tape to kraft paper and compostable alternatives. The 18% cost increase was worth it.
2023
Expanded natural hair care line
Added shampoo bars, conditioner bars, and scalp oils from five new US makers. Hair care is now our fastest-growing category.
2025
Shipping nationwide from Cleveland, OH
Moved fulfillment to a dedicated facility serving Cleveland, OH and every US state. Orders now arrive in 3-7 business days nationwide.
